As part of the February Weekend meet to Newtonmore five members undertook Winter Skills training lead by
James, who was a brilliant instructor. Every one of them managed
to pick up some new, possibly life-saving, skills over the two
days.
Here are some photos taken during the two days training.
Starting off with one of the main themes
of the weekend, winter navigation.
Heading into Corie na Ciste, taking time to
consider the other main theme of the weekend, avalanche
awareness.
Not a blockbuster but
video of ice axe braking on You Tube.
Heading over to Coire Laogh Mor.
On Sunday, heading for Coire an t-Sneachda,
but they were not alone!
Further winter navigation heading into the
coire.
Great views of the Fiacaill Ridge
It seemed like every man, and his dog (well
at least one dog), was in the coire practicing.
They dug emergency snow holes
….. and then it was time to head back
But not before one last photograph ……
