Snowholing in the Cairngorms
28 Feb/1 Mar, 2015

It was a character building expedition and many thanks to Ken for all the hard work he put in finding us somewhere to go where there was enough snow.

We set off from the Linn of Dee noting the warnings from the SRoWS

But Despite the warnings and the prospect of finding out of what it feels like to spend the night in a slush machine we were still in good spirits when we reached White Bridge (note the smiling faces)

The 'modern art' was still there, I wonder if it will last the winter.

By the time I pulled up onto the ridge the rest of the team were hard at work.

I was soon down and digging, eventually having a hole to call home.

All mod cons

Sue was also snug next door cooking her supper

The view just as I went to bed, note the snow and the shovel handle.

After a very comfortable night Ken came round to wake me from my slumbers, informing me that every one else was moving.  Reluctantly I extracted my self from a warm sleeping bag and had a look out of my hole to see the fresh snow around the shovel handle.

A day time view.

Ben and Ivan on Carn Cloich-mhuilinn

But the views on the way down were not disappointing.

The Devil's Point and the Lairg Ghru.

A spot of lunch.

The final look back to where we had just spent the night.

Another great trip, thanks to everyone for making it so.
