Fourteen people attended the Port a'Bhaigh camping meet, and the
general consensus was that it was great to be able to walk with
others again. The campers enjoyed a reserved terrace area.
Most
people arrived before early so there was a mass ascent of Suilven on
Friday,
and another large party climbed Ben Mor
Coigach on Saturday.
Brian
climbed Glas Bheinn and Sue Quinag. Several brave souls,
encouraged by Izy, swam in the sea and said it wasn't really too
cold at all.
The
climbers kept busy and Chris reports that:
On
Sunday Keith and myself ended up at Ardmair (affectionately
known as Hardmair by climbers). It lived up to its reputation.
We had a tough time on an E1 (photos of keith at the start and
at the top) and decided that we were both tired from our
climbing on Stac Pollaidh the day before so called it a day and
headed back to Aberdeen just before the showers started. The
photos show Keith at the base of West buttress trying to work
out the line of the climb we did called "Jack the Ripper" graded
E1, and then the line of the climb which starts up the cracked
groove and heads for the large block at the top on the right of
the buttress in 3 pitches. Rod and I did a couple of climbs on
Friday evening at Stone Pig area of Reiff in hot conditions.
It
was good to be back!
