'Glen Feshie to Linn of Dee"
10 June 2007
|
The meet was attended by twenty members and
one guest. Three parties set off from Achlean on an overcast
morning which deteriorated for a time but cleared up around
lunchtime to give pleasant walking conditions with some good
views later in the day. |

A low level group of five walked through Glen
Feshie and via the Geldie burn to White Bridge then onto Linn
o’Dee. A fine walk was had, the highlights being the very
friendly horses at Ruigh Aiteachain bothy, rucksack probing and
all, and the river crossings which entailed removal of footwear
on occasions. |
The two other groups opted for the high level
crossing of the two munros, Monadh Mor and Beinn Bhrotain, the
difference between them being the approach to the plateau. A
group of eleven, which reduced to nine quite quickly, ascended
by the path to Carn Ban Mor then over Tom Dubh to the munros.
The Presidents Party of five ascended by Coire Garbhlach, a fine
corrie with a steep headwall, and they were rewarded with the
mist clearing just before the climb out giving good views of the
enclosing crags. |

|
These two groups merged at the summit of
Monadh Mor and completed the walk as one making the bus with
minutes to spare. A tired but happy group made the journey back
to reach Golden Square at 8:30pm. |
