Joyce, Mark and I (henceforth referred to as the Three
Corbetteers) set off for Glas Bheinn. The weather was mild and
overcast. However, with rain forecast for later in the day, I
took a photo of the hill whilst we could see it:

At around this point we chatted with an Irish couple who
pointed out the spot where there are graves of six airmen who
crashed up on the hills in 1941. The winter was so bad that
no-one could reach the site for six weeks and at that point they
decided to bury the men where they were. The graves are amongst
the most remote Commonwealth war graves. A visit would have
meant a long detour for us but it is something I would like to
do some day. Carrying on to the bealach and then on to the
summit, we finally lost the views as the rain came in. All the
same, we felt we had done a lot better than expected in that
respect.

On Sunday, the day was colder but clearer and we set off past
the caves for Breobag.
Obviously we heeded the "road signs"!
As we neared the summit, the sun came out and we enjoyed the
views of this wonderful area.

Then disaster struck as I discovered the effect of leaving
your Jelly Babies in your rucksack in the drying room!
We returned via the same route and then adjourned to the
Elphin Tea Room which is run an Australian mother and daughter.
I highly recommend the lime and polenta cake and the carrot and
walnut also looked good. Excellent coffee too! Thus refreshed,
we all set off homeward on a beautiful afternoon.
