Glen Clova to Glen Muick- 19th July

On Sunday 19th July our day meet travels by minibus to Glen Clova. We’ll split the difference afforded by the summer days and depart St. Margaret’s at 07:30am, allowing pickups up to Milltimber before heading onto the A90.

From Glen Doll car park the President’s Party will head up the stunning Corrie Fee towards Mayar, but not towards Driesh! We’ll make use of the bus opportunity and traverse north towards the White Mounth and Loch Muick, taking in a total of three Munros, including Cairn Bannoch and Broad Cairn. This is a reasonably long route which will see us cover 30km and 1,140m of ascent.

Many shorter alternatives are possible: a traverse is still possible at reduced pace (or in inclement weather) by taking Jock’s Road, on better track, for a day of 24km and 840m ascent. For anyone looking for a significantly shorter walk, it could be possible to walk Mayar and Driesh before returning to the bus at Glen Doll car park, covering 13-14km and 730m ascent (must return by 15:00).

The minibus will collect the President’s Party at Spittal of Glenmuick. If attending, please let me know if you have a route preference or intend to take an alternative route.

We expect to have time for a quick pub/chipper stop in Ballater, and should be back in Aberdeen around or just after 8pm.

I have attached a GPX file for the President’s Party route.

To book your place on this meet please let me know at vaymutch@pm.me. The cost will be £20 paid to the club bank account (details will be shared to attendees nearer the date).

Please let me know where you’d like to be collected if not at St Margaret’s School for Girls.
