Iain Young (SMC secretary) will present a talk on his recent trip to South Georgia – ‘ Cold Mountains, High winds and big seas’.
7.30pm to be held at the Fountainwell Church Centre (previously Queens Cross church) in Albyn place. £3 admission. Tea, coffee and biscuits available.
Additionally, the Cairngorm Club committee have decided to allocate 20 to 30 minutes of discussion after Iain’s talk to outline the proposed club SCIO incorporation. (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation). Members who have an interest in this proposal are requested to attend if possible.
With an 8.30am start from St Margarets, this polychromatic meet includes the Green, White, Red and Black Hills south-east of Alford. Starting at a farm track off a back road to the south, we go past Ewens Croft, and ascend Green Hill on a mix of track and footpath, then descend NNE to White Hill (some heather; trig point). Then NW over open grassland to the abandoned farmstead of Culthibert, then a twisty landrover track back up to a col below Green Hill before heading SW up to Corrennie Moor and Red Hill. From here, down past a stone circle to Forkins, for a short stretch of road/track before a short diversion over lowly Black Hill (which we might do first) near the starting point. The almost figure-of-eight route would allow short cuts to omit White Hill and/or Red Hill. Distance approx 14km, ascent 500m
The coach will depart from St. Margaret’s at 7am. As is traditional, the
President’s Party will ascend Lochnagar but there are many alternatives
including the other Glen Muick Munros and Corbetts, walking back to Ballater,
or simply a walk around the loch itself. Afterwards we will stop for High Tea;
details will be announced nearer the time.

Each event above has the contact details of the organiser, which is different for each event. If you are not already a member, please contact membership@cairngormclub.org.uk first – it is possible to become an interim member to attend some events.
Weekends away – Please contact the meet organiser for the event by email and register your interest. The weekends are very popular and registering interest as early as possible during the year is advised. In the event that places are still available approximately one month before the event, the meet organiser will advertise the event by emailing club members. Confirmation is by payment only which will be requested by the meet organiser approximately six to eight weeks before the event. If an event has a waiting list, payment may be requested earlier to secure your place.
Day trips – Please contact the meet organiser for the event by email. Once they have acknowledged your request, they will send payment details (if a coach or bus trip). Confirmation is by payment only. Further details and reminders will be sent to the club mailing list, and final organisational detail will be distributed by email to confirmed attendees.
