A visit to Ben Macdui where we all also carry our new replacement indicator to install. The original indicator was installed over 100 years ago by the club, and is now beginning to erode. This will be a minibus trip.
Here’s what we’ll be installing:

To answer a few questions that have arisen:
Why the change of spelling from Ben Macdhui to Ben Macdui on the new one? The club debated this and it was decided that the spelling – Macdui – used by the landowner, local authorities and Ordnance Survey, should be used.
What has happened to the old indicator? In short, it is still there underneath the new one. We would have loved to have removed it to preserve and display. It was considered, however there were uncertainties in whether the ceramic original would survive removal intact, and how the surface below would be found. These unknowns could have created complexities and required multiple visits to complete the task, and it was decided that installing the new one over the top was a relatively simple procedure, that would bypass any unknown factors.
Our next day walk meet is in 4 weeks: Glen Clova (Mayar & Dreish) – 19th July
