Mount Keen

Mount Keen from Glen Muick – April 12

A popular munro from an unusual direction. Contact ivan_abz@btinternet.com

The current plan is to start from the road about 3k south of Ballater. grid ref: NO 352 917. Heading up onto the high ground on a landrover track to Cairn Hillock and then Creag Dearg. From there following the county boundary across the high ground via head of Black Burn to Mount Keen. Route out will likely follow the route in. I estimate about 12 k in each direction – first 7k on track, but the latter 5k on boggy/heathery ground.

Final details will be emailed to attendees at the end of next week.

This is a coach meet with the coach departing St Margaret’s School at 7.00am.
I fully intend to stop at a pub on the way back, before returning to St Margarets for 8pm.
Alternative shorter walks are possible, for example at The Coyles of Muick.

The cost is £22.00 payable to the club account or by other methods acceptable to the treasurer.

Our next day walk meet is in 2 weeks: Beinn Bhrotain – May 10
