Midweek walk – Coiliochbhar Hill

Traverse of Coiliochbhar Hill from Cushnie Forest entrance to Newton

Meet at NJ509129 (OS sheet 37) at 10:30. Option to car share from Kingswells P&R leaving at 9:30. Please let me know a driver who is willing to meet me 15 minutes early to park a car at the end of the route and return other drivers to the start from the finish.

The route heads up a forestry track on Langgadlie Hill and leaves the new track to follow a forestry break through a plantation. Continuing north, we reach the open SE ridge. We then pick our way through a larch plantation that has much windblow and emerge just over 100m from the summit cairn (532m).

A steep descent SW from the summit takes us to a track leading around Craigiebeg Hill and down to near Newton.

Mixture of forestry/farm tracks and moorland paths. No dogs please – the route crosses farmland.

8km with 200m ascent, leaving plenty of time for coffee in Alford.

Please let me know if you are definitely joining so that I know how many cars to expect.
