CPR Training/Refresher. The Scottish Ambulance Service and Sandpiper Wildcat Trust have volunteered to run training/refresher sessions on CPR for the Cairngorm Club. The venue will be the Woodbank (Shell’s conferencing facilities in Aberdeen), N Deeside Rd, Cults, Aberdeen AB15 9PN. The session will cover what to do in the event of finding a casualty, diagnosing cardiac arrest, steps to take and how to perform CPR with the opportunity to practice on the manikins and receive hints and tips from the paramedics who will run the session.  Two separate groups will run on the night, one for beginners and one for people who are trained and just want a refresher.  If you’d like to attend or have any questions please let Michael Tonge know so he can arrange the correct number of instructors.

Mon- Sat Verwall Alps Austria (6 Day Hut to Hut Tour) (Derek Beverley)
A meet to the Austrian Alps is scheduled for late July/early August and is open to all members who have a love of high places and enjoy adventure. If you've never visited Austria before or wish to try hut touring then this meet may be for you? Six days walking with 5 nights at mountain huts is planned. We intend departing Innsbruck Mon 30 Jul 2018 and returning mid-afternoon Sat 04 Aug 2018.
The walking will be on paths some sections of which have wires for security. We'll be below glacier level but expect patches of old (or new) snow. A typical day (up and over a 2700mtr col) will be around 6hrs duration and the trip is best described as moderately strenuous. If you are a fairly regular mountain goer then you should be fine.
Budget wise you'll need to get to Innsbruck first (I can advise on flights/trains/buses). Once in the mountains 50 Euros per 24 hours should be adequate and will get us a bed, half board (3 course evening meal and breakfast) and possibly a beer and strudel as well.
If you long for adventure and fancy a holiday in Austria this year then this meet is for you. A couple of us have a loose plan to do something the week after so no harm in getting in touch if you are free Sunday 5th onwards?
Additional information can be found here on the Club Forum  or by contacting Derek by email by clicking here.
